Cementitious Topping flooring

Cementitious Topping

A modern, industrial-aesthetic overlay applied at 10–30 mm over your existing floor, delivering seamless concrete character with minimal disruption.

When your commercial fit-out needs an industrial-aesthetic floor without the timeline or cost of a full replacement, a cementitious topping gives you a seamless, raw-concrete finish applied at 10–30 mm thick over existing concrete, tiles, or screed.

The material is pump-applied or hand-trowelled using shrinkage-compensated self-levelling compounds that achieve compressive strength exceeding 50 MPa at 28 days. The cured surface is sealed with a penetrating sealer or floor hardener to create a smooth, grout-free finish with the natural tonal variation and texture of poured concrete.

You control the final look with custom colour pigments, scoring lines, zone definitions, and branding integration. The system is resistant to freeze/thaw cycles, CO2 and chloride penetration, and provides excellent water resistance with no strength loss under wet conditions. Fire-rated to EN 13501-1 Class A1fl.

Cementitious toppings are open to foot traffic after just 3 hours and forklift traffic after 16 hours, making them practical for office refurbishments, retail fit-outs, hospitality venues, and showrooms where project timelines and floor-to-ceiling aesthetic coherence matter.

Frequently Asked Questions

How thick can a cementitious topping be applied?
Standard application thickness ranges from 10 to 30 mm in a single pass. For deeper fills, the compound can be extended with up to 50% silica sand to achieve greater depths while maintaining strength and performance.
How soon can the floor be used after application?
The surface is open to foot traffic after just 3 hours and can handle forklift traffic after 16 hours. This rapid return to service makes cementitious toppings practical for time-critical commercial fit-outs and renovations.
Can a cementitious topping be used as a finished surface?
Yes. When sealed with a penetrating sealer or floor hardener, the cured surface serves as a finished wear surface with a natural concrete aesthetic. The sealer improves resistance to penetrating liquids such as oil, grease, and cleaning agents.
Can the colour be customised?
Yes. Organic pigments can be added during mixing to achieve your specified colour. The natural tonal variation inherent in cementitious materials gives each installation a unique, handcrafted character rather than a uniform manufactured appearance.
Is cementitious topping suitable for areas with water exposure?
The material provides excellent water resistance with no strength loss under wet conditions, and good resistance to CO2 and chloride penetration. It is suitable for both interior and exterior applications and resists freeze/thaw cycling.
