MMA/PMMA Floors flooring

MMA/PMMA Floors

Rapid-cure flooring, trafficable in as little as one hour, for food processing plants, car parks, and facilities that cannot shut down for standard floor installations.

MMA/PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) is the world's most advanced resin technology for environments where downtime carries a direct cost to your output. Installed at approximately 7 mm thick, the system delivers a fully trafficable floor in as little as one hour, even at ambient temperatures as low as -20 °C.

MMA/PMMA combines exceptional chemical and thermal resistance with ultra-fast cure chemistry, making it possible to install during overnight windows, between shifts, or over a single weekend. The cured system handles continuous thermal cycling from -40 °C to +100 °C, resists organic acids, fats, and CIP agents, and provides a dense, seamless surface with anti-slip profiling for wet process areas.

The system is UV stable, puncture resistant, and chemically resistant with an infinite recoat window, meaning future repairs and maintenance coats bond permanently without the preparation issues common with polyurethane alternatives. Over a 20-year lifecycle, MMA/PMMA systems deliver significantly lower total cost of ownership compared to traditional PU membrane systems.

We specify MMA/PMMA for food processing plants, abattoirs, pharmaceutical facilities, car parks, cold-storage rooms, and any environment requiring fast return to service.

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can an MMA/PMMA floor be returned to service?
MMA/PMMA systems can be fully trafficable in as little as 1 hour at 20 °C. This rapid cure makes overnight and weekend installations possible without extended facility shutdowns.
How does MMA/PMMA compare to polyurethane systems?
MMA/PMMA offers a 7 mm film build compared to 3.5 mm for PU, returns to service in 1 hour versus 7 days for PU, and delivers approximately 55% lower cost over a 20-year lifecycle. MMA/PMMA is also repairable and has an infinite recoat window, whereas PU systems cannot be easily repaired or recoated.
Can MMA/PMMA be installed in cold conditions?
Yes. MMA/PMMA cures at ambient temperatures as low as -20 °C, making it suitable for installation in cold-storage facilities, freezer rooms, and during winter months when other resin systems cannot be applied.
Is MMA/PMMA suitable for car parks?
Yes. MMA/PMMA provides a flexible, trafficable, and waterproof membrane that is resistant to hot tyre pickup and designed for bridge deck loads. The system is UV stable and puncture resistant, making it ideal for exposed car park decks and podium structures.
What warranty does MMA/PMMA flooring carry?
MMA/PMMA membrane systems typically carry a 20-year membrane warranty from the manufacturer. Typical system performance is 15 to 20 years, with maintenance statements provided to support ongoing warranty compliance.
