Micro-cement flooring

Micro-cement

Achieve a seamless, contemporary finish over existing tiles or concrete with no demolition, minimal downtime, and full colour customisation for interior and exterior surfaces.

When your renovation demands a modern, seamless aesthetic without the cost and disruption of demolishing existing surfaces, micro-cement gives you an architect-grade finish at just 2–3 mm thick. Applied by hand in multiple trowelled coats directly over tiles, concrete, plasterboard, timber, or self-levelling compounds, the material creates a continuous, grout-free surface across floors, walls, benchtops, and wet areas.

Sealed with polyurethane topcoats, micro-cement becomes fully waterproof, making it suitable for showers, bathrooms, splashbacks, and swimming pool decks. You select from a full palette of pigmented colours and multiple finish textures including matte, satin, polished, and clouded effects. Colours can be changed in the future by sanding and reapplying.

Unlike most resin coatings, micro-cement is suitable for both interior and exterior applications including terraces, footpaths, porches, and external walls. The material provides good resistance to UV rays, water penetration, climatic stress, and de-icing salts. With a heat conductivity of λ=0.46, it is also an excellent choice for surfaces with underfloor heating systems.

We install with minimal disruption, typically completing a standard room in three to five working days. At only 3–4 mm thickness, existing doors and windows usually do not need modification. Micro-cement is increasingly specified by architects and interior designers for projects where design flexibility, fast turnaround, and surface continuity across multiple planes are priorities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can micro-cement be applied over existing tiles?
Yes. After careful assessment of the base and proper preparation, micro-cement can be installed over tiles, concrete, timber, plasterboard, and self-levelling compounds without any need for removal. Your installer will assess the existing surface and advise on the best preparation method.
Can micro-cement be used in bathrooms and showers?
Yes. When sealed with polyurethane topcoats, micro-cement provides good protection against water penetration and is suitable for showers, bathrooms, splashbacks, and other wet areas. Appropriate base preparation and sealing are essential for long-term performance.
Can micro-cement be used outdoors?
Unlike most resin coatings, micro-cement is suitable for exterior applications including terraces, footpaths, swimming pool decks, porches, and walls. The material resists UV rays, water penetration, climatic stress, and de-icing salts.
Is micro-cement compatible with underfloor heating?
Yes. Micro-cement has excellent adhesion to surfaces with underfloor heating systems and a heat conductivity value of λ=0.46, making it an efficient material for heated floors.
How durable is micro-cement flooring?
Micro-cement has abrasion resistance comparable to a top-quality timber floor. It is suitable for residential, commercial, and hospitality environments. While it is not comparable to ceramic or porcelain tiles, it provides excellent durability for most interior and exterior applications when properly sealed and maintained.
Can the colour be changed after installation?
Yes. The surface can be sanded and reapplied with a new colour, which is useful for renovations, change of use in commercial premises, or simply refreshing the look of a space.
Do I need to remove my doors and windows?
At only 3 to 4 mm thickness, micro-cement can be applied without modifying or removing existing doors and windows in most situations, unless they are not perfectly aligned with the floor.
