Stone Carpet flooring

Stone Carpet

Resin-bound natural stone aggregate that is permeable, slip-resistant, and UV-stable for patios, pool surrounds, driveways, and interior feature floors.

When your outdoor or transitional space needs a durable surface with natural texture and effective drainage, stone carpet gives you a resin-bound finish combining graded natural stone aggregates with a UV-stable polyurethane resin binder, trowelled in place over your existing surface.

The 100% permeable open structure allows rainwater to drain directly through the surface, reducing pooling, runoff, and the need for separate drainage infrastructure on your property. You choose from a wide range of natural marble aggregate colours and blends, with transitions between zones for design definition.

Application depth is selected based on intended use: approximately 10 mm for pedestrian areas, 16 mm for light vehicle access such as driveways, and 19 mm for areas with turning vehicles or frequent heavy traffic. The system can be applied in temperatures from 5 °C to above 38 °C, with curing speed adjustable through catalyst levels.

Stone carpet handles pedestrian traffic, light vehicles, pool chemicals, and sustained UV exposure without fading or delaminating. We install over prepared concrete, asphalt, or compacted base, typically completing 50–80 m² per day. Maintenance is straightforward: periodic pressure washing restores the appearance, with a reseal recommended every 5 years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is stone carpet permeable?
Yes. Stone carpet is 100% permeable, allowing rainwater to drain directly through the surface into the substrate below. This eliminates surface water pooling and can help meet local stormwater drainage compliance requirements.
How thick should stone carpet be for a driveway?
For driveways with light vehicle access (cars driving on and off), a depth of approximately 16 mm is recommended. For areas with turning vehicles or frequent heavy traffic, 19 mm provides additional durability. Pedestrian-only areas require approximately 10 mm.
What maintenance does stone carpet require?
Stone carpet is a low-maintenance surface. Regular removal of dirt and debris combined with periodic pressure washing keeps it looking fresh. A reseal every 5 years rejuvenates the appearance and extends the surface life.
Can stone carpet be installed in cold or hot weather?
Yes. Stone carpet can be applied in temperatures from 5 °C up to above 38 °C. The curing speed is adjustable by varying the amount of catalyst used, allowing installations to proceed in a wide range of conditions.
What is the difference between resin-bound and epoxy stone surfaces?
Stone carpet uses a UV-stable polyurethane resin binder rather than epoxy. Polyurethane is significantly more flexible, durable, and resistant to yellowing or cracking compared to epoxy, especially in outdoor environments exposed to sunlight and temperature changes.
